Продолжаем рассматривать особенности грамматики, нужные для business English. Часть VI посвящена планированию. В связи с тем, что планы относятся к будущему, речь пойдет о конструкциях, которые типичны для передачи будущего времени.
1. To talk about something you plan to do, you can use the going-to future:
I’m going to quit my job in the next future.
2. If you arrange a meeting with someone, especially when a time is mentioned, use the Present Contionious:
I’m meeting with their director after the event at eight.
3. There are also some verbs typically used to talk about intentions. They are followed by to+infinitive.
I want/would like to start my own business.
I’m hoping to find new contacts during this conference.
I’m planning to go freelance.
We expect to increase our sales by only one per cent.
We intend to extend to other markets.
4. To talk about things that are expected to happen according to a schedule, use be due to+infinitive.
The new product is due to be released to the retail market in March, 2013.
5. When promising to do something, use the will future:
I’ll send you the documents as soon as possible.
